Use the joystick under the screen

Without a remote, a 2014 LG LB-series TV can be controlled with the joystick button below the screen. It handles power, volume, programmes and the input menu. Its exact position varies by model family; the manual’s diagram for your model shows where it is.

Turn the TV on or off

  • To turn on: press the joystick once and release it.
  • To turn off: with the TV on, press and hold the joystick for a few seconds, then release it.

A short press while the TV is on opens the control menu instead, so hold it longer to switch off.

Change volume and programmes

With the TV on, rest your finger on the joystick and move it:

  • left or right to change the volume
  • up or down to scroll through saved programmes

Move it without pressing it in. If you press first, you can’t change the volume or programme.

Switch inputs

  1. With the TV on, press the joystick once to show the control menu.
  2. Move the joystick to INPUT.
  3. Choose your connected device from the input list on screen.

The menu also offers TV OFF (turns off the TV) and CLOSE (clears the on-screen display and returns to viewing). If you’ve selected a PC but see no picture, see the PC no-signal checks.

What the joystick can’t do

The joystick covers basic viewing, not every settings screen. If you have a compatible Magic Remote, pair it again for full control.
