Factory reset a VIDAA TV: Reset to Factory Default and the PIN

Where Reset to Factory Default is in a VIDAA U6 or U9 Settings menu, what the PIN prompt means, and the restart and smaller reset options to try first.

Applies to: VIDAA TVs whose menu has Settings → Support → Reset to Factory Default, as in the VIDAA U6 and Hisense 2025 U9 e-manuals; menus vary by brand, model and region.

Compatibility & scope

Based on a VIDAA U6 e-manual (NT72671, EU English) hosted on manuals.plus, a third-party site. The manual does not name the TV brand. The path was confirmed in a second VIDAA e-manual for a laser TV. The same path, the PIN prompt and the Parental Control PIN rules were also checked in Hisense's English e-manual whose PDF metadata title is E-Manual MT9603 VIDAA U9 NA/SA (the manual prints no date or version; the PDF was created in 2025), downloaded from Hisense Chile (hisense.cl), where it is hosted for the models 58Q6QV, 40Q4SV and 50A4NV. Hisense's 2021 VIDAA U4.2 manual, also used for this site's VIDAA guides, has no factory reset section. VIDAA is used by several TV makers, and the manuals say features vary by model, country and region. No default PIN is documented. Documentation reviewed; no TV hardware tested for this article.

Where the reset is

In the VIDAA U6 e-manual, the factory reset is at Home → Settings → Support → Reset to Factory Default. The TV asks for a PIN before it starts. VIDAA’s manual warns that a reset clears your personal settings, information and data, so you set the TV up again afterwards.

Hisense’s 2025 VIDAA U9 e-manual uses the same path and the same PIN prompt, so these steps apply to both. The two manuals differ only in how they describe the PIN, covered below. If your menu is different, check the manual for your TV brand and model.

Try a smaller reset first

Hisense’s U9 e-manual suggests restarting before resetting: turn the TV off, unplug it for 60 seconds, then turn it on again. A restart doesn’t clear your settings, information or data.

If only one area is wrong, the e-manuals have more targeted options:

  • Picture: in the picture settings, Reset Current Mode restores the current picture mode’s settings to their defaults.
  • Sound: in the sound settings, Reset Current Mode does the same for the current sound mode.
  • Parental Control: Settings → System → Parental Control → Reset to Default restores only the parental-control settings.
  • Usage data: Settings → Support → Disclaimer and Privacy → Remove User Data removes usage data from the TV and cloud storage without a full reset.

Reset the TV

  1. Press the Home button on the remote. The manual shows two Home icons because remotes differ.
  2. Open Settings (the gear icon), then Support.
  3. Select Reset to Factory Default.
  4. Enter your PIN when the TV asks for it.
  5. When the reset finishes, set the TV up again. Expect to reconnect to your network and sign in to your apps.

Before you start, write down your Wi-Fi password and any app sign-ins you’ll need afterwards. Hisense’s U9 e-manual also says to remove any USB devices from the TV first.

If you don’t know the PIN

Which PIN the TV asks for depends on its menus:

  • VIDAA U6 e-manual: the TV’s System PIN, set at Settings → System → System PIN. The manual uses the same PIN for Parental Control.
  • Hisense 2025 U9 e-manual: the reset step just says to enter the PIN. The only PIN this manual lets you set is the Parental Control PIN (Settings → System → Parental Control → Parental Control PIN), which it says is used for parental control and to protect the system, so try that one. 0000 isn’t allowed as a PIN.

Neither e-manual gives a default PIN or a recovery method for a forgotten PIN. Try any PIN you set during setup or for parental controls. If none works, contact the support service of your TV’s brand (the name on the TV or its box). They can confirm the procedure for your model.

If the menu doesn’t match

VIDAA is used by several TV brands, and older VIDAA versions look different. Hisense’s 2021 manual, used for this site’s older VIDAA layout, shows My Apps and Inputs and has no reset section. If Support isn’t in your Settings, look up the manual for your exact model on your TV maker’s support site.

Common questions

Does a factory reset remove apps I installed?

The manual says only that a reset clears your personal settings, information and data. It doesn’t say whether apps you installed are removed (separately, it notes that factory-installed apps can’t be deleted). Expect to sign in to your apps again.
