Mirror a phone to an LG TV: Screen Share and AirPlay (2023–2025)

Show your phone's screen on a 2023–2025 LG webOS TV: Screen Share for Android phones, AirPlay for iPhones, the Accept/Decline/Block prompt, and what to check when the TV isn't listed.

Applies to: LG webOS TVs whose user guide matches LG's 2023–2025 editions (e.g. C3, C4, C5 OLEDs). LG says some phones lack Screen Share and some TVs lack AirPlay.

Compatibility & scope

TV steps come from three editions of LG's English (UK/EU) webOS TV user guide (w23_mr3_eu03, w24_mr2_eu03, w25_e02), which LG's UK support pages link for the 2023 C3, 2024 C4 and 2025 C5 OLED TVs. The Screen Share steps and the Accept/Decline/Block prompt match across the three; how Home Hub opens differs by remote. LG doesn't list which TV models support AirPlay or which phones support Screen Share, and it doesn't describe the phone-side menus for Android phones, whose names vary by manufacturer. iPhone steps come from Apple's support article. Google Cast (casting from an app) and PC screen sharing are mentioned in LG's guides but not covered here. Documentation reviewed; no TV or phone tested for this article.

Android uses Screen Share, iPhone uses AirPlay

A 2023–2025 LG webOS TV can show your phone’s screen without a cable. From an Android phone, turn on the phone’s Screen Share (screen mirroring) feature, pick the TV from the list and choose Accept on the TV the first time. From an iPhone or iPad, use AirPlay: put the phone on the same Wi-Fi as the TV, check that AirPlay is on in the TV’s Home Hub, then choose the TV in Screen Mirroring.

LG notes that some phones don’t support Screen Share and some TV models don’t support AirPlay. The steps below come from LG’s 2023–2025 user guides and, for the iPhone side, Apple’s support article.

Before you start

  • Put the TV and the phone on the same Wi-Fi network. LG and Apple both require this for AirPlay. If the TV isn’t online, see the LG Wi-Fi checks first.
  • Use a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network if you can. LG recommends it for Screen Share, because the wireless environment affects performance.
  • Update the phone. LG recommends keeping the phone on its latest OS version for a reliable connection.

Mirror an Android phone with Screen Share

  1. Turn the TV on.
  2. On the phone, turn on its Screen Share or screen-mirroring feature. The name and where it sits depend on the phone’s maker; check the phone’s own guide if you can’t find it.
  3. The TV appears in the phone’s list of available devices. Select it to request a connection.
  4. On the TV, a connection request appears. Select Accept.

The TV then shows the phone’s screen. LG says the response speed depends on your environment.

What Accept, Decline and Block do

The first time a phone connects, the TV offers three choices:

  • Accept: the phone connects, and the TV won’t ask again for that phone.
  • Decline: the phone doesn’t connect this time. The prompt appears again next time you try.
  • Block: the phone doesn’t connect, and future attempts fail without a prompt.

If you blocked a phone by mistake, go to Settings (gear) → All Settings → General → External Devices → Delete Connection History. This deletes the TV’s history of devices connected over the wireless network, which LG gives as the way to unblock a phone.

Mirror an iPhone or iPad with AirPlay

On the TV:

  1. Open Home Hub. How depends on your remote and guide:
    • 2025 guide: press the Home Hub button; if your remote doesn’t have one, press and hold the Input button.
    • 2023 and 2024 guides: press the Input button, or press and hold it on a Magic Remote.
  2. In the Mobile section (Mobile / Bluetooth in the 2023 guide), select AirPlay and make sure it is On. LG’s troubleshooting says Home Hub → AirPlay must be set to On.

On the iPhone or iPad (Apple’s steps):

  1. Open Control Center. On iPhone X or later, swipe down from the top-right corner; on iPhone 8 or earlier, swipe up from the bottom edge.
  2. Tap Screen Mirroring.
  3. Select your LG TV from the list.
  4. If an AirPlay passcode appears on the TV, enter it on the iPhone or iPad.

To stop, open Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring, then Stop Mirroring.

LG’s 2025 guide adds that the TV may not connect if your Wi-Fi router uses DFS channels (52–144). That’s a router setting; check your router’s documentation if everything else is correct.

If the TV isn’t in the phone’s list

Work through LG’s checks in order:

  1. Check that the phone supports it. LG says Screen Share may not be supported depending on the phone’s model or manufacturer, and some TV models don’t support AirPlay.
  2. Restart both. Turn the TV and the phone off and on again, then try again. LG gives the same advice if the connection fails repeatedly.
  3. Make sure you picked the right TV. If several devices are listed, give the TV a name you’ll recognise in Settings (gear) → All Settings → Support → TV Information → Device Name.
  4. For AirPlay, check that the TV and the iPhone are on the same Wi-Fi and that Home Hub → AirPlay is On.
  5. If the TV no longer shows the Accept prompt and the connection fails, that phone may have been blocked. Unblock it with Delete Connection History (see above) and try again.

If there’s no AirPlay option in Home Hub, your model probably doesn’t support it; LG doesn’t list the supported models in these guides.

Common questions

Is casting from an app the same as mirroring?

No. LG’s 2024 and 2025 guides also list Google Cast (Chromecast in the 2024 guide) in Home Hub, which plays content from a supporting app rather than showing your whole screen. The phone and TV must be on the same network, and LG says it may not be available in some countries.
