LG TV Quick Access: set number-button shortcuts to apps and inputs (2023–2025 webOS)

Hold a number button from 1 to 8 on an LG remote to save the app, channel or input you're watching as a shortcut, use 9 for Quick Help, and hold 0 to see, add or remove shortcuts.

Applies to: LG webOS TVs whose user guide matches LG's 2023–2025 editions (e.g. C3, C4, C5 OLEDs), with a remote that has number buttons. Not 2014 LB-series TVs.

Compatibility & scope

Based on three editions of LG's English (UK/EU) webOS TV user guide (w23_mr3_eu03, w24_mr2_eu03, w25_e02), which LG's UK support pages link for the 2023 C3, 2024 C4 and 2025 C5 OLED TVs, and the 2025 OLED55C5ELB owner's manual. The Quick Access steps are the same in all three guides. The 2025 guide adds that Quick Access works only with a remote that has number buttons. The 2025 C5 owner's manual shows two Magic Remote layouts, one with number buttons (0 marked QUICK ACCESS) and one without; it doesn't say which is supplied in which country. LG says the items you can register vary by model. The guides don't list which apps or inputs can be registered, don't say whether the on-screen number buttons from More Actions can be used for Quick Access, and don't say how long a press counts as holding, except that long-press buttons on the remote are held for more than a second. Documentation reviewed; no TV tested for this article.

How Quick Access works

On a 2023–2025 LG webOS TV, Quick Access turns the number buttons into shortcuts. Open the app, channel or input you want, then press and hold a number button from 1 to 8 and confirm with Yes. After that, holding the same button opens it from anywhere. 9 is reserved for Quick Help, and holding 0 opens the screen where you check and remove shortcuts.

It needs a remote with number buttons. LG’s 2025 guide says so directly. Not every LG remote has them: the 2025 C5 owner’s manual shows two Magic Remote layouts, one with a number pad (where 0 is marked QUICK ACCESS) and one with no number pad, just a More actions button marked 1 2 3 that puts number buttons on the screen. LG’s guides don’t say whether Quick Access works through those on-screen numbers.

Hold this button What it does
1 to 8 Opens the shortcut saved on it. On an empty number, it offers to save what you’re watching.
9 Opens Quick Help. It can’t be changed.
0 Opens the Edit Quick Access screen.

LG’s remote legend defines a long press as holding the button for more than a second.

Save a shortcut

  1. Open the app you want, or switch to the channel or external input (for example an HDMI input) you want on the button.
  2. Press and hold a number button from 1 to 8 that isn’t in use yet.
  3. A registration pop-up appears. Select Yes.

The shortcut is now saved. LG says the items you can register depend on the model. If nothing happens when you hold the button, the TV may be in a mode where Quick Access can’t run; LG says nothing happens then, but doesn’t list those modes. If you hold a number that already has a shortcut, the TV opens that shortcut instead of saving a new one; free the number first (see below).

Use a shortcut

Press and hold the number button. The TV opens the app or switches to the channel or input saved on it.

If you delete an app from the TV, LG says its Quick Access shortcut is removed too, so the number becomes free again.

See, add or remove shortcuts

  1. Press and hold 0. The Edit Quick Access screen shows the nine numbers, with 9 fixed to Quick Help.
  2. Choose what to do:
    • Remove a shortcut: select a number that already has one. LG says this lets you deregister it.
    • Add a shortcut from the list: select an empty number. The TV shows the items you can register. Anything already saved on a different number is marked with a check mark.
    • Read LG’s short help: select Help at the bottom of the screen.

The edit screen is also the quickest way to see which apps and inputs your model lets you put on a button.

What the 9 button opens: Quick Help

Holding 9 opens Quick Help, LG’s built-in troubleshooting app. You can also reach it with the Settings (gear) button → All Settings → Support → Quick Help. It offers an automatic check of the TV’s settings with suggested values, help pages chosen by symptom, a status check, and LG Remote Service (remote help from LG’s customer service, where available). The exact items depend on the model and country.

Common questions

My LG remote has no number buttons. Can I still use Quick Access?

LG’s 2025 guide says Quick Access can only be used with a remote that has number buttons. Remotes without them, such as one of the two Magic Remote layouts in the 2025 C5 owner’s manual, have a More actions button that puts number buttons on the screen, but LG doesn’t say whether holding those registers or opens a shortcut. To reach Quick Help without a 9 button, use Settings → All Settings → Support → Quick Help.

Can I move a shortcut to a different number?

LG’s guides describe only removing a shortcut and adding one to an empty number. To move one, remove it from its old number on the Edit Quick Access screen, then save it again on the new number.
